- Ideal Characteristics - Interested in working with boys in small groups, friendly, outgoing, and a little silly with a lot of patience. Ability to plan games and activities to accomplish rank adventures.
Description:- Guide,
support, motivate, and inspire the boys in your den.
- Work
directly with other den and pack leaders to ensure that the den is an active
and successful part of the pack.
- Plan,
prepare for, and conduct den meetings with the assistant den leader and den
chief (if Wolf, Bear, or Webelos den leaders) or adult partners (if Tiger Cub
den leaders). Den Planning Guides are
available.
- Attend the
pack leaders’ meetings.
- Facilitate
your den’s participation in pack meetings and pack activities, such as helping
to prepare your den for Pinewood Derby, performing skits, or conducting flag
ceremonies.
- Keep
advancement records in ScoutBook and share with the Advancement Chair so
advancements can be purchased and awarded in a timely fashion. Communicate with parents regarding homework
and missed requirements. Ensure the
transition of Cub Scouts to a den of the next rank (or to a Boy Scout troop if
Webelos Scouts) at the end of the year.
- Develop
good working relationships with den parents and families. Use their talents to help enrich the den
experience.
- Help
ensure that your boys participate in pack fund raising activities. Facilitate volunteers to fill slots at store
fronts during popcorn sales.
